<div itemprop="description">The death of Catherine Isabel Tilley of Saint John, widow of F.J (Ted) Tilley occurred at Ridgewood Veterans Wing on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. Born in Saint John October 6th, 1923 she was a daughter of the late Parker D. and Ethel M. (Chittick) Mitchell. Isabel grew up in West Saint John, attended local schools and graduated from Saint John High School. Upon graduation Isabel attended Horton Academy of Acadia University and completed her degree as a stenographer. On Isabel’s 18th birthday she enlisted with the R.C.A.F and remained there until the end of the war. In 1945 Isabel married her husband Ted and shortly afterward retired from the work force to raise her family. In her younger years Isabel was a member of St. George’s Anglican Church and later the Church of the Good Shephard where she was a long-time member of Quinton Heights Circle. She was also a member of the I.O.D.E and the Daughters of the Nile. Isabel was also a very keen bridge player being a member of the same bridge club for over 40 years. Isabel and Ted loved to Travel and made several trips to England and enjoyed many winters in Florida. Isabel’s greatest joy was her family, especially her 6 grandchildren. She took great pride in watching their lives develop and in all of their achievements. <br><br>Isabel was predeceased by her husband Ted in 2013. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Kathy); Carl (Elaine); 6 grandchildren; Michael (Andrea); Jennifer; Heather (Greg Davis); Christopher; Tammy (Dr. Tony Reiman); Peter (Nona) and 8 great grandchildren. Isabel is also survived by her brother P. David Mitchell of Long Reach, 1 niece and 3 nephews. <br><br>The family would especially like to thank the entire staff of Liberty Lane at Ridgewood Veterans Hospital for their care, compassion, patience and understanding for the 7 years mom was a resident. <br><br>Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Friday July 29, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday July 30, 2016 at 10:00 am from Castle Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Donations in Isabel’s memory can be made to Alzheimer’s Society or to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. <br></div>
