<div itemprop="description">Dewey Leroy Janes passed away peacefully at home on July 21 after a period of failing health. He was born and lived in Dipper Harbour, a community that he loved, where he was well respected and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He had family and friends who loved him dearly. <br /> <br />Survived by his wife Cathy Kennedy, his beloved children Katheryn Bawn of Maces Bay, Diana Craft (Mark) of Saint John and Scott Janes (Linda) of Fredericton, step children Nora Kennedy and Corey Blanchard, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and brother Eugene, sister-in-laws; Grace, Elizabeth, Barbara, Kay and Elva Janes. <br /> <br /> He was predeceased by his first wife (Norma Wilson), his parents, Percy &amp; Edna, his brothers Ronald, Reginald, Harvey, Kenneth, Howard, Perry, sisters Whilemine, Flora, Alberta &amp; Elsie. <br /> <br />Dewey retired in 1992 following 27 years of dedicated service for N.B. Power and was highly regarded for his strong work ethic, strength and friendliness at Pt. Lepreau. He took great pride in his accomplishments in dory racing and judo and was a proud member of the Anglican Parish of Musquash. Dewey loved his family, extended family and many friends. He will be greatly missed. <br /> <br />Donations can be made to the Fundy Bay 50+ Club or donor&rsquo;s choice. <br /> <br />Visitation will be held at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3, on Wednesday, July 23rd, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. <br /> <br />A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24th, at 11:00 am at Maces Bay Anglican Church.
