<div itemprop="description">George Douglas Nicol passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 85 on September 15th, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was the eldest son of the late David and Margaret (Speight) Nicol, born on March 19th, 1928 at Woodman&rsquo;s Point, NB. Doug was the loving husband of Doreen (Pitt) Nicol. A lifelong resident of the Westfield area, Doug had a long and varied career as a farm labourer, woodsman, steel worker and construction carpenter. He retired after 25 years with the New Brunswick Department of Transportation as a Ferryboat Operator. He was also successful as a Land Developer, and was the founder of the Willowbank Mobile Home Park in Westfield. <br /> <br />Doug is survived by his loving wife Doreen (Pitt) Nicol, sons Mark Nicol of Grand Bay &ndash; Westfield, and David (Heather) Nicol of Hampton, brother Ronald Nicol of Public Landing, as well as six Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Douglas Nicol and his brother Everett Nicol. <br /> <br />Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB. Visitaton will take place on Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8, Funeral Service will be held Thursday September 19th 2pm at the Fallsview Chapel, Reception to follow service at Fallsview Reception Center. Interment will take place at St. Peters Cemetery Woodman&rsquo;s Point, NB. Donations to the charity of the donor&rsquo;s choice would be appreciated by the family.
