<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness that the family of Muriel “Mimi” Stackhouse announces her passing at Carleton Lodge, in Ottawa, on March 25, 2017. Muriel was born in Saint John on December 10, 1927 to the late J. Richard and Annie (Scott) Stackhouse. She was a graduate of Saint John High, New Brunswick Teachers’ College and UNB. Muriel taught elementary school for over 35 years in the Saint John area (South Bay,Ketepec, Barnhill Memorial and Island View). <br> <br>Muriel is survived by Linda (John) Wilson of Ottawa, Marjorie Calvin, Laura Hartin, Evelyn Sheffar of Saint John, sisters-in-law Joan Stackhouse of Moncton, Shirley Stackhouse of Thunder Bay, brother-in-law Edward Creaser of Saint John and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers Fred, Ron, George, Ed, Harold, Lloyd, Bruce and sister Edith Creaser. She will be sadly missed by family, former students, fellow teachers and world travelling companions. We wish to thank the wonderful staff at Carleton Lodge for their kind and loving care. <br> <br>Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB (506-634-1701). Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon at Castle Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held from Castle Funeral Home on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Donations in Muriel’s memory can be made to Saint John Branch Retired Teachers Fund, Saint John High School Alumni Fund or the charity of one’s choice and would be appreciated by the family.
