<div itemprop="description">It is with heavy hearts that the family of C. Gordon Smith, husband of the late Betty Anne (Silliphant) Smith, announce his passing on February 23, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Gord was born in Saint John, the son of the late Harry Baird and Addie Gregory (Tippett) Smith. <br> <br>Gord was a bricklayer by trade and member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Local NB8. He was an avid sportsman. He was a member of the KBM Aces softball team in the River Valley Old-timers League. He bowled in several bowling leagues including the Goodtime League and played badminton for many years. Gord loved playing cards, shooting pool and reading western novels. Above all he enjoyed time he and Betty spent together. Both he and Betty were members of St. Marks United Church. <br> <br>Gord is survived by his three sons; Gregory (Debbie), Michael (Lori), Barry (Lois), Grandsons; Jeffery and Bradley, Great-granddaughters; Emma and Alyvia and several nieces and nephews. <br> <br> Gord was predeceased by his wife of sixty years Betty, infant daughter Beverley, sister Jean Hartshorn, brother Donald, and daughter-in law Shelley. <br> <br> Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Monday, February 27th at 2:00pm- 4:00pm and 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Castle Funeral home on Tuesday, February 28th, at 11:00 am. A Reception will follow the Funeral Service at the Castle “Fallsview” Reception Center. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations in Gordon’s honor be made to Canadian Diabetes Association. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com. <br></div>
